RESCUE, ADOPTION AND REHAB CENTERS
The following rescue, adoption and rehab centers have
expressed a philosophy regarding parrots which shows a concern for both
their physical and psychological well-being. However, we still feel
it is important that you also interview these facilities and form your
own opinions. Most groups who allow adoption will have a rigorous
screening process and require a prospective adopter to attend an
educational presentation. Some groups may not have a "facility" that can
be inspected—many use foster care to house parrots waiting for adoption,
in this case a prospective adopter can ask for references or to speak to
others who have adopted from the group. Please read
A Few Thoughts on Rescue, Rehab and Sanctuary, by Sally Blanchard,
for more information on evaluating parrot rescue organizations. If you
feel you must surrender a bird to a rescue organization a donation to
that group would not only be appropriate, but greatly needed &
appreciated!

| The Oasis Sanctuary
The Oasis Sanctuary Foundation, Ltd., was incorporated in 1997 in
the State of Arizona and is located in the Phoenix metropolitan
area. The Oasis was established to create a refuge and sanctuary
for unwanted pet birds, retired or unproductive breeder birds and
for "special needs" or handicapped birds. In particular, our area
of interest is in Psitticines (parrots and parrot-type birds.)
