SALLY BLANCHARD'S Personal News
My mother, Betty, came to live with me about 7
years ago. Her care needs became quite extensive in the last two years so I had
limited my speaking schedule and it became very difficult to keep up with
everything. In the last few months her health declined rapidly
and her care took a great deal of my time and energy.
My mother passed away in
mid March at 92 years of age. She was always very supportive of my artwork and
my work with parrots. My mother always loved wild birds and was particularly
fond of California Quails, Hummingbirds, and Cedar Waxwings. When my parents
lived in Redlands, California, the yard had a hillside of pyracantha bushes. My
mother would become very protective of the Robins and Waxwings when they became
inebriated from eating too many fermented berries. She would keep the
neighborhood cats away while the birds slept it off.
She loved my "late
great" African Parrot Bongo Marie who passed away several years ago. Bongo Marie
always did something that amused my mother and she loved to tell her
friends stories about the talented grey.
My mother was a very loving woman who
had a delightful sense of humor and I certainly miss her and her sweet smile.
Sally will now be able to accept limited speaking
engagements. If you are interested in talking with her about a seminar, please
call us at 970-278-0233.
